We spent our first full day exploring the passageways in our area. These were the original shopping malls during the 1800s with storefronts in a narrow alley with a glass roof. Some seemed run down and were just the rear access to stores facing the street while some like Gallerie Vivienne next to our apartment were restored and had independent shops to explore.
After resting back at the apartment we headed back out to checj out Galleries Lafayette which is the biggest and fanciest department store in Paris. The building has a 6 story dome in the center decorated with a huge tree sculpture and lights and the display windows on the street level. We also headed to the roof for a great evening view of Paris.
